The Association of Chartered Industrial Designers of
Ontario (ACIDO)
is an association of accredited Ontario Industrial Designers,
formed to develop and promote the Industrial Design
profession within the province.
ACIDO serves three main purposes: to facilitate discourse
between
like-minded practitioners (networking), to promote common
values and standards in Ontario (policing) and to encourage
the public to view the industrial design profession
as
a worthwhile addition to society (professional responsibility).
Industrial Design is the activity of creating concepts
for consumer
and industrial products which render those products practical,
attractive and economical to manufacture. The Industrial
Designer is trained to follow a project from ideation through
to production and to optimize its appearance, function
and value for the mutual benefit of user and producer.
