13th Annual acido Rocket Show

Competition for Emerging Industrial Design Talent

Toronto, ON – The Association of Chartered Industrial Designers of Ontario (ACIDO) is hosting the 13th annual Rocket Show on May 10 and 11, 2014. This design exhibition and competition features the work of the top industrial design graduates from Carleton University, Humber College and OCAD U. Students will be displaying their final year studio projects and vying for the top prize at the event which will be held at the Design Exchange, located at 234 Bay Street, Toronto.

The Rocket show was founded in 2001 to “address ACIDO’s desire to meet the community of graduating designers in Ontario: Introduce them to ACIDO, each other and join with them in celebrating the completion of their undergraduate studies in Industrial Design,” said Scott Grant, co-founder of the event.

This year over 60 students are expected to participate with projects that include: consumer products, transportation concepts, healthcare innovations, furniture and sporting goods. The winner and runners-up will be announced at the awards gala Saturday evening.

The Rocket Show will be open to the public on both Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and is free to attend. Contestants will be on hand to discuss their inspiration, process and final design.  “The student design projects really showcase what the future could be and the creative thinking is top-notch. This show is a great way for the public to see the design process in action and get inspired,” said Jonathan Loudon, President of ACIDO.

The Rocket show is proudly sponsored by Spin Master, Teknion, Umbra, DesignForce, Kangaroo Group, Nimble Ventures, ACID, Javelin Technologies Inc., Cortex Design Inc., Swave Studios, Kobo, Nova Product Development Services Ltd., Ideacious and IMM Living.
