SALO is a wearable wandering-management system designed to support people living with dementia while reducing stress for caregivers. Wandering is a common and serious safety concern, affecting approximately one in five individuals with dementia. When someone goes missing, the risk of harm increases significantly over time, often leading to injury, exposure, or death. These situations put a lot of emotional strain on caregivers and often involve first responders.
Existing solutions, like tracking devices and medical IDs, don’t always work well in real-world situations. Many are uncomfortable, stigmatizing, or not well integrated into emergency response workflows, which often leads to people not wearing them.
SALO responds to these gaps with a discreet, comfortable wearable paired with a mobile app that supports real-time tracking, SOS alerts, and clear communication between caregivers and responders.
Guided by safety, dignity, and clarity, the system is designed to reduce search time, support autonomy, and bring peace of mind during critical moments.
