Re: A decentralized communication application designed for communities under government-imposed internet shutdowns
Re is a decentralized communication application designed to operate during internet shutdowns. Through a local Bluetooth mesh network, it enables device-to-device communication without reliance on cellular networks, internet service providers, or centralized servers.
The goal is to provide a reliable and secure communication system that helps communities maintain information exchange and coordination. It is free, open-source, encrypted, offline-first, and designed to be trusted by people whose safety depends on it. Every design decision, technical architecture, and line of code is evaluated against a single question: does this make the tool more trustworthy and more useful to someone in the worst situations?
