Contemporary Interactions with Analog Synthesizers: Contemporary Interactions with Analog Synthesizers

“This project investigates why analog synthesizers remain relevant in the digital age, focusing on the tactile qualities that shape our interaction with them. By comparing, analyzing, and testing the affordances of different musical technologies, a framework emerges, detailing the unique sensory characteristics that balance an individual to their analog instrument.

These insights then informed the design of two new analog synthesizers, proposing that innovation lies not in new technology, but in rethinking the sensory composition of analog instruments; transforming a once coveted tool, into an experimental, explorational toy.”
