SENSA: SENSA is a custom seat for students with sensory needs, designed to improve focus, increase in-seat time & support an inclusive learning environment.
This project focuses on improving classroom accessibility for high school students with sensory processing needs. Because sensory processing challenges can affect self-regulation, social participation, and engagement in everyday school activities, many students struggle with routine classroom expectations such as sitting still, concentrating, eating, or writing. These difficulties are often intensified by limited access to effective strategies and accommodations within educational environments.
In turn, this project proposes the design of a customizable classroom chair that supports a range of sensory needs through adjustable kinesthetic, tactile, visual, and auditory features. Designed to fit naturally within dynamic classroom spaces that feel warm, inviting, and collaborative, the chair aims to enhance comfort, focus, and participation while promoting a more inclusive learning experience for all students.
